The Medicare Rights Center mourns the passing of Lawrence Madison, our distinguished former Board Member, who served on the Board from 2008-2017. His lifetime commitment to excellence in health care and dedication to Medicare Rights have helped increase access to affordable health care for older adults, people with disabilities, and their communities. Our heartfelt condolences go out to Larry’s family, friends, and colleagues, who will deeply miss him.
In retirement, Larry was a volunteer at the Medicare Rights Center and, later, an invaluable member of the Medicare Rights Board of Directors. His life’s work combines a career in health care administration with commitments to film and the dramatic arts. Larry served as an associate director of a geriatric community health center and was a director of a diagnostic and treatment center. He also produced and directed award-winning documentary, educational, and industrial films, as well as television commercials.
Larry was a stalwart supporter of Medicare Rights, helping the organization deepen its commitment to Medicare beneficiaries living on limited incomes and experiencing hardship in both accessing and affording their care.
Larry received a B.A. from Stanford University, a Master of Social Work degree from Columbia University School of Social Work, and a Master of Public Health degree, with a specialization in geriatrics, from the Columbia University School of Public Health.
